(2016) EFS_Hot Fuss Era

This series (should we call it a series? yes?) developed from the fact that I love to draw myself, and I especially love to draw myself wearing cute outfits. Could you call it slightly egotistical? Sure! But honestly, I'll take anything that is consistently able to pull me out of art block. So there's that. And here are my Egotistical Fashion Studies! 

I did this The Killers series where I tried designing myself an outfit that was similar to what Brandon Flowers wore during that album era.  I've actually been working on it over a number of years, but I didn't want to post anything until I caught up to the newest album, which I now have done.  I'll be posting all The Killers ones over the next couple of days. Yay!

In celebration of getting to see the Killers live last night (WOWOWOWOW!!), here is a oddly-cropped sketch of Brandon Flowers.  Can we talk about how great this man is?  I basically started rendering from photos because I always wanted to draw his face.  

I never saved the reference for this, sorry about that.  I own neither the original image, nor the composition. 

(2015) Brandon Flowers as Icarus for Mythology (The Killers Fan Art)

For my Mythology class in 12th grade, we all had to make mosaics out of paper.  One of my classmates got really ambitious and made hers out of rice, but the rest of us stuck to paper.  Since I was obsessed with the Killers at the time, I cleverly found a way to work Brandon Flowers into the project.  

Happily, my mosaic was actually chosen to be submitted to the Springville Art Museum High School Show.  I wrote up a little blurb about Brandon Flowers and how he represented Icarus to me because he wasn't afraid to take risks with his band.  If I knew where that blurb was, I would include it here.  Unfortunately, it has been lost to the world.
