(2015) Brandon Flowers as Icarus for Mythology (The Killers Fan Art)
For my Mythology class in 12th grade, we all had to make mosaics out of paper.  One of my classmates got really ambitious and made hers out of rice, but the rest of us stuck to paper.  Since I was obsessed with the Killers at the time, I cleverly found a way to work Brandon Flowers into the project.
Happily, my mosaic was actually chosen to be submitted to the Springville Art Museum High School Show.  I wrote up a little blurb about Brandon Flowers and how he represented Icarus to me because he wasn't afraid to take risks with his band.  If I knew where that blurb was, I would include it here.  Unfortunately, it has been lost to the world.

(P.S. I used a reference that is not my own, but I couldn't find the image again, otherwise I would have linked it.  So sorry!)

(2014) Their Eyes Were Watching God Adaptation
This was my final project for when we read Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God in my 11th grade English class.  I drew everything in pencil and then went over bits and pieces with gray watercolor.

(2014) MD_Orca Minimalist Doodle
I pulled this from one of my sketchbooks and took a pic of it, then tried to trace over the original in Photoshop to get a cleaner look.  I was trying to get really smooth lines, but I found that the sketch actually lost all it's personality when I did that.  I had to go over the shape a couple of times with different amounts of opacity to get it to look like the sketch again.  I finally got it to look like the original doodle, and then I added some color.  I've got a couple more of these; they're pretty fun to do when you get them right!  I'm calling them minimalist doodles, and I'll probably play around with the color palettes a bit more, just for funsies.

Like these weird square doodles?  Here's more of them: X

(2014) Marissa's Commission_Christmas Ships (Star Trek, Supernatural, Sherlock Fan Art)
It's almost Christmas!!!  This is from Christmas 2014, when my fantastic friend asked me to draw her three favorite ships.  I kind of love it, honestly, it turned out so cute.
